Affiliate disclosure

Fjord Cruises Bergen takes part in the GetYourGuide affiliate programme. If you book a cruise through a link or a booking widget on this site, I may earn a small commission. You pay exactly what you would pay going to GetYourGuide directly.

What that means in practice

The booking widgets and cruise links on this site go to GetYourGuide, a licensed online travel agency. If you book after using one, GetYourGuide pays me a percentage of what you paid them. There is no markup on your side, no separate fee and nothing added at checkout. Links to the operators’ own sites, to Visit Bergen and to Skyss earn me nothing at all, and I use them wherever they are the better answer for a reader.

Whether it changes what I write

Judge that against the site rather than against a promise. The cost page opens with a NOK 51 commuter crossing that earns me nothing, and says in full what it does and does not give you before it mentions a single tour. The cheapest listing on the site is the one I recommend most often. Every one of the six reviews leads with something the reader would rather have known: the audio guide people cannot hear on deck, the two hours it takes to reach the good part, the passengers the RIB turns away, the food the dearest day out does not include. None of that is how anyone maximises a commission.

What the commission pays for is the time to check operator claims against the companies, the maritime authority and the meteorological record rather than copying listing text, which is the only reason the comparison is worth reading at all.
